"Boy, learn all you can, watch the other guy, cause someday you'll want to do, or have, what he has " my grandfather would tell me. Now that I'm am older I see the true priceless value of this lesson. Happiness is what Knowledge brings. In this work I am compelled by this need for knowledge. As I was when a younger man, an ornate object allowing the knowledge of life to pass me bye, like a dead brass book end. I was compelled by curiosity and creativity, a fusion that transforms. It allows one to travel in the direction of his dreams without obstacle. for if you understand the obstacle then it is not an obstacle, and becomes a tool to reach higher goals and levels of happiness. This work represents the forces of human curiosity and the opportunity of new life through Knowledge. The brass duck book end is transcendental, between being and non-being, or living and dead. He is brought to life through curiosity but can his thirst of knowledge take him to the feared knowledge of opportunity. Will his inane stagnate thought and be a coward to explore new avenues of like. There is more to life than being a bookend. Like all things, close to the door of opportunity, shed new spirit and hope and new life. the plant survives, feeding off the spiritual light energy of wisdom. The book shelf is traveling through the vast reaches of your black imagination searching for your interest spot of your brain and the path is nearing the viewers direction if he'll let it. The arrangement of books is a collection of my own personal collection in the left portion of the work. It begins with analytical thought to spontaneous logic and then veers into fantasy and story telling and finally into your imagination. The title of the last book is worn away from those who have pass through and it is waiting for the viewer to place his own personal title on his volume of knowledge of opportunity. . An old girl friends name is found on the book fairy tale for her precious interpretation of the wonders of the new and exciting world in which we live, that only a few can find amazing and incredible amongst the mundane. I have a compelling and passionate need to tell the world of the importance of knowledge to bring about happiness, whether it be memory, logic, or creativeness. Thus the understanding of what we know warrants to be eternalized for a constant reminder, to be ART.
